I have Clone pc,with P600Mhz and 512 ram sys3 on Asus mother board with cd burner and dvd player.i have since installed a tv card on my pc. i now enjoyed using my pc so much that i watch tv while doing my homework.
I have some family VHS tapes that i would like to save, before they disentigrate. Most of these tapes are half hour to one hour long. some one has told me i can save them on a cd or dvd but i will need to upgrade my video card and buy a editing software, while others told me i need to buy a dvd burner. since i have to work with a budget ,what is the most economical way to achieve this? Welcome to the world of video editing!! It can be joy or a headache.
First depending on you TV card you may be OK with your hardware. See if it supports video capture and if it does check out the resolutions ie. 640 X 480, 320 X 240. The last resolution should be the minimum. A fast Hard drive 7200 or better will help prevent frame drops. Your processor will slow up the rendering of your videos so I would recommend a minimum of 1gig processor. Video editing software, Ulead VideoStudio 6 and Pinnacle Studio 7 are good programs. I would hold off on the DVD burner and just use your CD-RW to make video CD's. You can make CD's that will work in just about any new DVD player. Iam including a link to a very good web site that can answer many of your questions and includes a Free video editing program. Good luck Randy http://www.vcdhelp.com/convert.htm http://www.virtualdub.org/index:) |
