Radeon driver problem

Have used the Radeon 7500 card for about a year with no problems noticed that new drivers are available called Catalyst 2.4 After insalling the new drivers everything seems normal but when using windows media player to play mpeg and .avi files there is sound but no video. Is there anyone else out there thats had this same problem and know what the fix is? Thanks

Send a message via ICQ to cobra Send a message via AIM to cobra
for avi files, you might need a different codec. Might want to install one of the divx players to have the codec(s)
Sometimes the wrong codec will produce video w/ no sound or upside down video...
Worth a shot

Did you install the ATI Control Panel with those CATALYST 2.4 drivers?

Also, did you uninstall the old drivers/control panel prior to installing the new ones? If not, you can uninstall them via the "add/remove programs" dialog in the Windows Control Panel.

HTH... Let us know how it turns out.

Well I did uninstall the old drivers but have not installed the control panel. I did reinstall the DIVX codecs and the player and had the same symptoms. I did use system restore and everything is fine. I would like to use the Catalyst drivers better performance maybe, but you know what they say if it aint broke don't fix it! Sunday I will try again and download and install the control panel.

I have had no issues with the Catalyst drivers until the 2.4's. For whatever reason, they just don't work worth a damn on my system. Overall performance is ridiculously slow. The 2.3's work great.

Make sure you dl the ATI Control Panel for the new 2.4 drivers.

Uninstall the old ATI Control Panel from "Add/Remove Programs". Restart if prompted.

Exectue the ATI Control Panel file. Restart when prompted.

Now, you should be ready to adjust your video settings. Have fun!

Tried the 2.5's..... still very poor performance on my system. Not as bad as the 2.4's though, they were barely workable with my configuration. So back to the 2.3's.
