I bought a Gf 4 ti4200 graphic card for my first self built computer and when i connected everything, and was ready to turn the computer on. The computer turned on, but the monitor didn't turn on.
I checked if the problem was from the monitor, but it worked fine on my old computer. So i turned the computer on again, and checked inside the case, and even the fan of the graphic card was spinning. So why can't i see anything on my monitor? Is the graphic card the reason why its not working? or somthing else? Please reply your suggestions if you have had this problem, or if you know the reason it is doing this. Thanks, PEaCE |

Check that vid card again with power off and plug disconnected. Many times they look like they are fully seated but are not. It actually takes a good bit of force to seat it in there properly. What kind of PC--Motherboard are you putting this card into???

Its a ASUS P4T533-C and the CPU is a P4 2.4 GHz.
But if the Vid card was not seated in properly, wouldn't that mean that the fan on the card wouldn't be spinning? Have you had the same problem? |

If just some of the pins are making contact that supply the dc voltage then you would get the fan going but possibly no video. What type of vid card did you remove??

It should work fine, just remove it and reseat it ans put the little screw in and you should be fine. My experience has been that in most cases with new build and all new parts, the vid card, memory, or the processor is just not seated properly. You may have any of the 3 in your case. Make sure memory is snapped in good and retainers are clicked in. Make sure processor and heat sink fan are properly in there and vid card is seated properly. 1 other thing you want to be sure motherboard is not touching metal on the backside. There are those little standoffs that were ether built into your case or you had to install in the proper holes for the motherboard to have some space underneath so it isn't touching anything on that backside!

I second ktkendall's post, make sure it's seated properly. Sometimes when you screw in the bracket, it unseats the rear of the card in the AGP slot.

No, when i turn it on I get no beeps.
I checked the CPU, and it heats up, so i know it works, does that mean the RAM and the C-RIMM's are put in the wrong order? |

That's very possible. It's also possible that they just need reseating.
Have you tried to POST it out of the case on the table? The motherboard may be shorting to a standoff or something as KTK suggested - and it's best to seat the RAM with the board on the table anyway so it doesn't flex. |
