need help combing one image into another

Here's the two pictures all in one:

http://www.angelfire.com/nb/rctballer/pic1.html

the rollercoaster pic, I just cropped and moved it into the logo.

--What I want to learn to do is fade the coaster track only, into the logo, as a transparent and faded in picture, without the black gridded background inside that small picture.

-How do I do this? I'm using photoshop 6.01

Try using the faded brush under the eraser tool.

Or, select what you want & copy it to a new layer. They make it transparent gradient (paint bucket tool button--click and hold it down).

Hope this helps
