What ya know about GeForce FX?

I currently have a Radeon 7000, I want something better because... I have a Radeon 7000 :-), What do you guys know about the new NVidia FX cards. Are there going to be different levels of goodness (Ti4200, 4400, 4600..?) How much are they going to be? Are they really going to be that much better than the top cards now? Are they going to come in 4x versoin or am I gunna have to buy a new motherboard that supports 8x (Currently I have a MSI 845E-Max?) And feel free to add any other information about the new cards. THANKS!

The new cards are going to be awesome. Unfortunately, most of what they are capable of will not be introduced on a software level for some time. I'm not sure of any exact dates. ON a hard ware level, they are capable of more than the directx9 specifications that microsoft has released.
I've seen the launch video at nvidia's website and this card looks astounding. Woohoo

Yeah they are powerful cards alright...but PC games not always uses the GPU power to 100%.Even GF4s were not fully used up their rendering power. Is it?
with the next year release I guess it will be 8x to boost performance and to catch up

by next year the most amount of video memory used will be 80MB by Doom III. As you can see, the video card technology is far ahead of the software technology that utilizes the card. also, i read a comparison of the 9700 pro vs the gf fx on tomshardware.com. from what they said, gffx is great at rendering but has slow frame rates unlike the 9700 pro. So if you are a gamer go with the 9700 pro, but if you want great graphics and dont mind sacrificing fast gameplay go for the gffx.

i thought u could put a 8x card in a 4x slot with out any problems except it would be a bit slower.

v1r4l: that may just be because the fx is still being made that was a sample of it. doesnt gaurentiee it for the final product, but also the slower fps they are talking about may be with out 4xAA and antistrophic filtering, and the fps without them dont matter cuase they will be fast enough already. but with all the eye candy enabled the fx will be able to do that without as much as a slowdown (case to point: it is about as fast a geforce 4 with no extra things enabled, but with all the graphical goodness on it preforms a lot better)
