Xbox or PS2?

I'm not sure if this goes here but its gaming though. I was wondering what you guys think about the Xbox and Playstation 2 systems? I want to get one but I don't know which to choose. Is there some differences in each of them? I want to get it with the most realistic graphics and NO kid games! Thanks.

I have to say Playstation 2. It not only has all of the regular PS games, but also some excellent PS2 games. I think XBox will die out soon, Microsoft is losing money, I believe, on each unit sold, something like $100 I heard. I think companies will stop supporting games that are for it, so once again Sony will win out over the competition. And by the way, GTA Vice City is an amazing game, everything you could want in a game and more.

Hmmm, I have a PS2, but I want an X-BOX. Just for X-BOX Live, and there are some pretty sweet X-BOX-exclusives out there. My brother is getting one for Christmas, I think. The PS2 has a huge library, and as Furius mentioned, can also play PSX games. If neither is in your budget, they have used N64's at my local EB for $29.99!

Then stick to your PC. No console has better graphics than even the most humble PC with a 15" monitor.

if i were to pick from the 2 it would be the x-box. better sound if you have digital hook up but it would be nice if they came out with some games.

I vote for xbox for adult games. They have new games hitting the shelves every week it seems.I plan on getting the x box live after the holidays as i have heard very good reviews on it.
I have both xbox and ps2.I'll take xbox anyday. Its hard to get to play very much though, seeing how the kids grab it before dad does.

I know but I still don't consider the graphics on PC very realistic as an Xbox or PS2. Its more money that will have to go if I stick with the PC and theres only about 3 games I would like on PC. As I said I wanted a system with NO kid games and that also means I don't want old games like PS type. I do like several games for Xbox like Splinter Cell and some games for PS2. I still don't think PS2 is a adult system like Xbox becuase their are several kid games. So far I'm going with PS2 as of now.........

Yeah, consider the X-box was 50% just like a PC.On some title you will notice slow frame rate and poor graphics.
Ok,get to the point.Grab the PS2 console! You just can't miss out some title like Gran Turismo 3,MSG2,GTA:vice city or other title that u cannot find on X-Box shelves.

Sure XBox has some exclusive games, but the majority of good ones can be found on a computer. That being said I think PS2 has a better selection of games exclusive to it. Though all consoles are going to have kids games. Also the GameCube has some pretty cool games on it, the Resident Evil series is a classic.

I would say Xbox just for the hard drive. Saving and loading saves is light years faster than the PS2 memory cards. My brother had a PS2 for awhile and got tired of it and bought an Xbox. We even played through a coulpe of the same games that we had already beaten on the PS2 just for comparison. Xbox IMHO is a nicer system. Better graphics, less frame-drop issues, faster loads/saves

I have the Xbox and PS2, for game selection PS2 is the choice as of right now. Xbox does have better graphics and sound, saving is so much simpler and you don't have to worry about filling up your memory card.

PS2 is above every other console on the market when it comes to software titles. X-Box is lacking fun titles to play so if I were you i'd stay away from it maybe rent one for a night. I won't be surprised if X-Box were to die soon.

I'm looking at a PS2 for the football games. Madden and NCAA. Does Xbox have Madden? If so how do they compare?

I've played PS2 before but it doesn't grab my attention on the graphics and I just remembered about the memory card! How much is that? like $30 right? Now I'm leaning over to Xbox becuase of the graphics and saving. Now theres a special If you buy the Xbox you'll get 2 FREE games. I also heard that Playstation 3 will be released somewhere in 2004 and Xbox 2 in 2005, I don't know if its true but someone read it on a gaming magazine.

I forgot to mention how much I hate that bulky X-Box controller. The Dual Shock 2 controller is perfect in every way it seems.

The xbox now ships with the s-controller,which is far from bulky.I bought one for my daughter for Christmas. The buttons are arranged different as well, which makes them easier to reach with your thumb.

Cool tigstah. I may have to try and talk my kids into purchasing an Xbox. They are working up their own money for it so the final say is theirs.

Microsoft has tried the gaming end before and it was a bust also, Sony is basically commited to continuing and improving the play station, if Microsoft proves true to history, after they lose enough money they will abandon the whole thing and you won't be able to get 20 bucks for it at a garage sale.

AHHHH!!! are you serious? Xbox will die out soon?? Its that Xbox has some good games for it that interest me. PS2 has been around for I think 2 years now and PS3 says wil come out in 2004 only 1 year away. Can't choose, can't choose.....

The X-Box is a faster system, but it isn't noticeable, and as far as amrketing (i.e. games) PS2 has the domination force of every ps1 game and the newe ps2 games, X Box still has Halo though, when is that coming to PC?

when i went looking and comparing the systems....i first ruled out the gamecube.....for me mario died with donkey kong....so the choice was xbox or ps2.....i play tested games for both systems, and the ps2 i was gonna get but after hearing a few people complain about how the it wouldnt read dvds and some games and then the hassle where sony would charge you upwards of 200 to fix the laser i went with the xbox.....i havent sent my warranty card in yet and wont for a while.....

Xbox die out soon? They recently said they have lost $177 million in one year on Xbox, then they said that over the next 4 years they are vowing to put at least $2 billion back into it. Its not going anywhere anytime soon. As far as which one to get, Xbox, better graphics, better sound, better online play, more original titles, no save cards needed, two Xbox offical controllers, 4 controller ports (PS2 = 2), download new content off Live and less glitchy DVD playback. You cant beat Xbox sports games online. Metal GearII, and Grand Turismo3 use to be the big thing, then Xbox got Metal GearII and Grand Turismo 3 Im told is fairly boring after about an hour. It has the Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice, but PC has GTA3 and will soon have Vice city.

Regardless of wether games are going to be written for the xbox or not, it is essentialy a p3 733 cpu married to 64megs ram via hypertransport, on an nvidia chipset mobo, with enhanced gf3 onboard agp. Not too shabby for some things. Oh yeah, an 8gig drive is in there too. If ya wanted to know.
