Voodoo 4

What do you all think about the AGP Voodoo 4 ?

I am thinking about buying one ?

I also have the option of buying a GeForce SDR for 75$ from a friend of mine.


Opinions please.

Voodoo 4 is just a replacement for a Voodoo 3 which you can find brand new for under $50. It includes 2xFSAA, but even on a V5 this feature bogs down performance. I would get a V3 and OC it, or something in the Geforce line, though I am unfamiliar with the SDR.

I only have about 150$ to spend and I need to decide. Should I get the GeForce SDR (he said that he will sell it to me in december but I do not want to wait) ?

So thats why I was looking at the Voodoo 4500 AGP because it is in my price range. Yep, no Geforce 2 GTS for me

BTW. I only play my games at 800 X 600 and the games that I play are UT, Q3, and Forsaken with my friends from time to time.

I'd agree. The Voodoo4 is a waste. Hang around til the Geforce2 Ultras come out from everyone, then you should be able to get the Geforce 256 DDR's for 150-175.

If you need something now, I'd go with the Voodoo3 overclocked as well. If you put some heat compound between the heatsink and chip and add a fan, you should be able to get it over 190mhz easy.

If you want a good, cheap card now, get the mx, i have a hercules geforce 2 prophet mx, it comes with 5.5ns ram and will overclock well.
