Upgrading Video

Thinking of retiring my Voodoo3 3000 and replacing it with a gforce 4 4200. Any foreseeable problems running this in an Asus CUV4X.

Any modern motherboard will not have any problems with most video cards out there right now, as long as it has an AGP slot.

It will probably go smoothly.

Sorry for taking so long to get back.
I got an MSI Ti4200-vtd8x (ms-8894).
Having a number of problems so far.
Cannot install the software from the cd.
Installed from Nvidia site.
I noticed that I had more options on the cd with Windows 98se than with 98fe.
I was wondering if these drivers require 98se.
Question: What is the easiest way to upgrade to 98SE from 98fe.

Thanks
Steve

Windows 98fe
256MB Ram
Sound Blaster Live
Asus CUV4X
PIII 800

In theory anything that runs on 98fe should have no trouble with 98se but, as you now know, that isn't quite true.
MicroSoft has withdrawn support for the both 98 versions so I can't really recommend an up grade. To save yourself grief it should be a clean install.
That brings up problem #2. For whatever reason the cost of the 98se OEM, at least here in the states, is the same as for XP.
How much of a hassle do you want?

PS.
I'm assuming that's a custom build. If you're running a DELL or something of the kind DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE THE OS WITHOUT FIRST CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER.

Really if you get all the updates from Windows Update and have the applicable version of DirectX you will have just about everything except for ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). That and SE came with IE5. I wouldn't worry bout upgrading Win98 at this point just make sure it is updated.

Here is M$'s home page for Win98.

Thanks for the replies.

Hi Tuf,
I agree that with all the updates I have done on 98FE that it should easily equal 98SE but that is not the case. Using MSI install cd with 98FE I was only presented with 1 menu item. That was the driver and it crashed ever time I tried to install it. Whereas using the same install disk with 98SE I am now presented with 3 menu items and no crash.
