Are you sure that's not a beta?

I got my information from here , I have not tested it yet, but I heard people say that dxdiag reports that it is not beta.

I've actually got the beta on my XP box and it seems to work fine, but it doesn't show anything about beta in the DX diagnostic either. I've had it for at least a month now.

I was going to run some benchmarks to see if DX9 improved performance, but aluk and alas, 3Dmark 2001SE only runs on DX 8.1.

There must be another way to get a good benchmark number. I'm interested in increasing some Frames per Second.

Hmmm...This is by M$ "The DirectX 9.0 runtime cannot be uninstalled. We recommend Windows Millennium and XP users create a “System Restore” point before installing. For information on creating a restore point, please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles" Does this matter? I don't know, but I figured I'd post it incase you XP or ME users are considering DLing it.

I just ran 3DMark2001 with DX9 without a problem. Gained a whopping 11 points LOL... although the pic seemed to be a little better.

BTW, not sure about ME, but XP automatically creates a restore point.

Wonder what the difference is. When I tried to load 3D mark 2001 I got an error message that said I needed DX 8.1. Anyone else have this problem? I running Win 98.

ooops, never mind- I was using the SE version of 3D mark- needed the 330 version.

Right now the new Radeons, are the only cards that are certified for it, and maybe the 3DLabs Wildcat VP and Matrox Perhelia, besides no games are using it yet. It is the full version, the launch was suppose to be around this time. I doubt youll see any performance increases, when they make DX updates they make it backwards compatible with previous versions so all games will run on the latest version, dont think they go back and optimize old code. If there is a performance increase its, probably because some small factor changed in your system.

I have a link where you can get the full version so you don't have to use the webinstaller.

Huh! I didn't think it would be out for another year or so. Amazing. Now to begin dowloading on my dial-up...

Btw, are there any issues with win98SE or 2000?

[edit:] Ouch. It's a 32MB download. Projected time: 6hrs 25min

Why does my catalyst install, downloaded from the 3.0, read 2.5?

Duh,32mb of download would be a hell for my dial up...
I'll rather have it install from the game disc in the future release

FantasySoul,

My logic exactly. When it's necessary to have, it'll come bundled with a game.
