A nice graphics upgrade?

Using a Visiontek Extasy, Ge Force 2, 64 MB DDR. Not looking for a $300 upgrade, but I might have a few bucks. Im now doing more with Graphics and Gaming than I thought I would last year. I thought my choice of cards would suit me better than it is.

A GeForce 4 Ti would be a nice upgrade.

The Ti cards are a little steep in price still, aren't they? With the new Fx cards comming out can we expect the Geforce 4Ti's to be dropping in price soon? Also, I know that the mx series cards aren't nearly as good as the Ti's, but would it be better than what Ive got now?

The GeForce4 Ti 4200's are around $120, and if that's too expensive for you, a GeForce3 Ti will run you under $100. That would be much more of an upgrade for you then a G4MX.

What's the GeForce3 Deluxe? Does it come with a lot of bundled software or something? It's crazy expensive!

If I'm not mistaken it's an Asus card that has a TV Tuner also. It may be a dual head.

That's the card I have, it is an Asus, V8200. Why it's so high, I don't really know. It is one of the few straight GF 3 cards, meaning it's not a TI. It's speed is just below a TI 500.

It's features are VR glasses (which I've never used), S-Video / composite TV in/out. And some video recording software and VCR type controls. It is not even a dual head....and you can use either the monitor OR TV, but not both at once (a real drag).

I think it's high because someone bought too many when they were an over $400 card and doesn't want to take a loss on it.

PS: NO tuner, that was an option...but I just use my VCR for the tuner, anyway, so no real loss.

I see. What a rip-off! If I want a $300+ card, I'll wait for the FX!

You are bringing up a good point. I was considering getting an ATI TV card. What would I have to look at to upgrade from my GFII 64 MB card and have the ability to use my comp as a tivo, all with one card. Im a working man so nothing crazy expensive...

Well, just went to nVidia's and confirmed the fx is out, but I guess that's just to the manufacturers. Even used their "where to buy" page, and it's not listed yet. Went to the "rollout" partners page, and to their own sites, no mention....

Ya, I'll wait too...

Speaking of GF4Ti prices .... I was at our Wal-Mart last night and they are closing out their Visiontek cards. They had Ti 4200 128MB cards for like $120. I bought one that had been opened but I could tell the card it self had ever been removed from the package. It might have been missing some documentation, I don't know what normally comes with them. It had one install pamphet and two CD's. One with drivers and one with Power DVD. I paid $80 for it, with a guarantee I could bring it back tomorrow for a refund if it is defective.

I know Visiontek is no longer in business but I thought for $80 I couldn't go to far wrong. I'm normally not a big fan of the GeForces but so far it seems pretty cool. There used to be trick into making them think they are a Quadra. I don't know if it still works on the G4s but I'm going to look into it this week.

Notice I said 300+? I meant any amount over $300. By the way, I just noticed the FX will use only a 128-bit memory pipeline. Hmmmm.........

Three hundred plus is probably an accurate statement. While it may be released at a price much higher than that it won't stay that high for long.
