Hey guys, I am wondering if anyone here has faced the following problem:
I am trying to capture some video from my camcorder using my Leadtek Winfast 4200 card. The picture looks fine during preview and while recording. The problem is when I stop recording and play it back in the PC, there is a huge white horizontal band in the middle of the picture blocking most of it (see gif below). I can only see the top and bottom part. I dont know what the issue could be. I dont have this problem recording other video inputs, such as VCR, or DSS. I am thinking it could be a problem with the camera itself while transferring the video, sound is ok. I have tried different capture formats (MPEG-1,2, windows video, AVI, etc.. same problem). Thanks |

Hi karlos_luis
Is this an Analog or DV camera? When recording, I take it you are using the very same composite jack on the vid card? Does the camera work / does the picture look OK if you plug the camera into the VCR and play the tape on the TV? TwoRails |

case 2: camera output connected to VCR input for recording. The white band does not show up but the quality of the picture is very bad even while recording. This is why I ended up trying my PC's video card. I hope I answered your questions. Last edited by BigCat; 12-21-2002 at 09:09 PM. |

Hi BigCat
The only thing I can think of right now is that the camera is setup to output European "PAL" format inside of American "NTSC-M" (or the other way 'round depending on your location). Check your owner's manual to see how to change this setting. (also, but I highly doubt it, it could be some kind of copywrite tape you are trying to play... but this is footage you actually shot with the same camera, right?) HTH TwoRails |

Thanks TwoRails. I am clueless too. My location is US and I bought the camera here. Yes, the manual says it is for NTSC-M systems. And yes, these are personal videos I shot with the same camera. I guess I'll need to borrow another cam from somebody and try it to see what happens. Thanks again.

I have no idea either why your problem happens, though. RJ
