Morrowind runs great on the 9500pro.
I've got the "pretty water" and some spectacular weather effects. I also have some problems, courtesy of DX9 and/or the new 3.0 catalyst drivers. I'm not sure what to make of them because others have no trouble and, yeah, it is an "older" mainboard. I did the System Restore thing and I'll be sitting this driver cycle out and trying again with the next one and DX9. I'll have flashed the bios by then and maybe that will help. Meanwhile, I've got some great games to play.

Hey Pam, thanx for taking the time to let me know about your VC and Morrowind. Although I won't be getttin a new VC until january or maybe for my B-day in february, I'm 99.99% sure it will be an ATi VC. My financial status by then will decide if it will be a 9700 or a 9500.
Have you read about my issues with SoF2? My VC is getting old.

Hi Wolfie,
I got the video black-out when running DX9 and the 3.0 drivers. Sound but no video. It cleared immeadiately when I went back to 8.1 and the 2.4 drivers. I haven't figured out why but I'll be looking for clues eveywhere till I do. The "jerky feeling" and "can't keep up when I'm running" may have more to do with Morrowind's framerate issues than with either video card . The framerate slows down or speeds up depending on your location in the game or what you're doing and, oddly enough, the higher your monitor resolution the less trouble you have with this. I'm on a 17" monitor that runs best at 1024 but if you have the option to raise your resolution you might try that. There's a patch that semi-works www.elderscrolls.com that you might want to try and you can check out the forum while you're there. PS Really like the picture. |
