I got a flyer in the mail from DELL today. They have it listed doesn't say anything about preordering it. I understood it wasn't out yet. My kids would like to have it.
I just saw Sim CIty 3000 the other day on my kids' computer it looks interesting. They said they have had it for a long time. That will tell you how much of a gamer I am. |

I went to dinner with some guys I play EQ with last Sunday. We got on the subject of the Sims. One of them said he found a way to have fun with it... he'd invite people for parties and then chase them around with walls and wall them so they die. He said he'd try to convince them to put a poptart in the toaster oven so they'd burn up but when they wouldn't, out came the walls.
Guess you had to be there. We were laughing so hard we were crying. |

I think the goal became to trap party-goers between walls so they couldn't escape.

yeah the new graphics engine.. makes everything look amazing.. the detail just keeps on getting better. It was coming out November of 2002, but they decided to push it back... if you go to www.simcity.com theyll have a link to its main site there... I jsut love sim city since I like urban planning a lot...

I looked at some screenshots, they are quite amazing. It appears it will be out the 14th. What kind of system requirements does it have? Thanks.

I was a big fan of sc2000 (my friend had a mac that had the cheat that went porntipsguzzardo, and then every additional ardo =500,000, it was pretty amusing to us at the time since we were about 9 or 10)
then sc3000 was pretty good but it was alot of the same just better graphics. I would be more interested in simcity 4 if it didn 't cost $50 for pretty much same ole same ole |

the one thing i'll like is that when you build a zone you have the option to have the game make the roads for you for a good layout or whatever. I hated how they always say they couldn't get anywhere fast and all that so...

A 'Sims' game requiring a 3D accelerator? Now, there's something you don't see every day.

I just got an e-mail from Westwood about SimCity 4. I've never played any of the SC games... what are they all about? Are they like the Caesar and Pharaoh games, just with a modern setting?

My kids play "the Sims" and have several expansion packs, they all look pretty stupid to me. But they and there friends really seem to get into it. SimCity is completely different. I have heard of it for years and it didn't interest me at all. But after looking at SimCity3000 it is pretty cool. I can't see myself getting too interested in it but I think it looks more interesting than the others.

go and read reviews on gaming sites. (or the sim city website) It'll tell you wahts different... Its easier to get build cities: you don't have to set up everything like in 3000, a lot of the tiny stuff that actually matters it'll do for you like build the roads for you and i heard something about the water pipes...
then instead of making one city in god mode you set up a whole area and then build the city in one section of it... so you can make a city thats just a huge residential area then build a second city and make it only industrial, then commerce, then garbage etc. Then you can just connect roads and things and that will let you set up the things like selling one city garbage space and all that (or a place for residents to go work)... |

so you can control more than one city?
in 3000 you could just build different stuff in each corner, but of course each would not be as big |

yeah i haven't played it but instead of creating one city you create like a county and build the land how you want it and then the huge thing is divided up into the sqaures and you just go into it and control that city.

- More Buidlings of course - Better Graphics (running on a new graphics engine instead of the old one its also really detailed - Instead of like controlling a City in the others.. you actually control a whole region... like the New York City Region and build the burros seperately etc etc... - there are alot more like landmarks... and I have a feeling there will be a lot to download from the internet since there was for 3000 im not completely sure though - like it seems more real building acutally take some time ot build... umm you can see more people... the cars are acutally more detailed - jsut overall more options on how to contorl your city.. teh economy etc etc - for example you can change how many police men are in certain stations... and how many doctors are in hospitals and there are now like small police stations and large ones.. as well as health clinics and large hospitals.... you can have minor league staiums.. as well as a big professional league stadium... you can rename any building you wnat.. if you like doing that... - theres more overall feedback on whats wrong with your city and what you can change... like you you use the querie(however u spell it) tool you can click on anyhting and get a bunch of feedback on teh crime, pollution, water, the land value, like what they think of the mayor. You can also move in sims(no you dont ahve to have the sims to import them) and they will give you more detailed information on whats wrong with your city... - also you can have raods, and streets.. teh roads are like the main primary roads and the secondary are like the ones in the residential zones... and you can mess around with a bunch of funding options.. I got it the day it came out.. haha ok heres the Minimum specs to run the game .... -Windows Xp, Me, 200,98 nt not support -CPU 500mhz -Ram 128mb Cd rom- 8x Hard Drvie Space 1 gb free spaced plus for saved games direct x 8.1 -Video - 16mb 3d accelerated mode it supports pretyt much every chipset for all tehv dieo cards so taht isnt a problem.. I was wondering.. how cna I play my own music on teh game? because like winamp and simcity dont mix well adn teh game runs terribly slow.. so is there anywya I can get my own music on the game? thanks Ill post back when I have time about the more detailed differences Ive just gotten my feet wet.. |
