Logitech joystick install interupted using XP

I just bought a Logitech Extreme Digital 3D joystick because it is suppose to be compatible with Windows XP. Using the usb connection it does run in a simple mode on one of my games. I would like to have the full software package. Version 3.25c that came with the joystick says it is not compatible with 'this operating system". (xp) When installing the downloaded update for xp - version 4.20 - windows installer says," The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." It appears to be looking for 'wingman software.msi' and can't find it. I don't know where this file is. Please help. I wasn't sure what forum to put this on. Should I try the xp forum?
Thanks, Doug

I am running a p4 2.2 on an Assus p4t533 with 512 rambus and a Gforce 3 Ti200.
