video card upgrade - need bang for the buck!

Hey all,

I'm on the brink of a new system build, and my last piece is a new graphics card. I have ViperII right now (Savage 2000 chipset ) and it'll certainly be a weak link in the new PC (XP1600/soltek mb/256DDR).. (edit - will be running XP Pro)

I'd like to keep it under $100 and get some good bang for the buck - I'll be doing light gaming, so I don't need anything too too crazy.

Right now I'm eyeballing the Radeon 8500 LE for $72 at newegg..

Quote:

Anyone have good/bad opinions on this card? Or any other recommendations for the price range? Thanks much!

Looks good to me. Although, I am a little out of date with graphics cards these days. But for $72....
