A friend of mine said you could pick up a hooker on GTA3, anyone know if this is possible?
This has to be one of the funniest games that I have played in a while. I can spend hours just high jacking cars and then kicking it in reverse and running over the person that was in the car. Do you guys think games like this should be outlawed because of the excess violence? Well gotta go highjack more cars…

I know on the PS2 version of GTA3 you can pick them up. When you spot a hooker (not hard to spot) pull up next to her and honk. Sometimes they'll get in, sometimes they'll keep walking. If she does get in, find an ally and park. You vehical should start to rock within a few seconds, if not try another ally (my guess is he likes his privacy.) After your done you can let her go w/your money or you can kill her and get it back, its up to you. Oh yeah, by nailing the hooker your health goes up. lol

there is a version that they "cleaned up" b/c people thought it was too terrible that you could get hookers then kill them...you might just be unfortunate enough to have one of these

just pull up in a nice car, the hooker will bend over and then get in. Your cash will go down. Then, when you are done, run out and kill her to get your cash back

I would never play such a game, period. My conscience would kill me. Tuf, how old is your kid? I know some 18-year olds who are to young for this game.

I rasied an eyebrow when I first heard about this game comming out. What is it rated? M? Not the kind of game I would feel comfortable playing.
If it were clean, yeah, then I would go for it. But as is...

Does it really make a diff. if your killing monsters or killing a hooker? Killing is killing.
But yes I agree some people are very easily influenced just about by anything... |

The game is violent. I don't think children should play it either. Its rated Mature for a reason. But I do enjoy watching my car rock and my health go up

Come now, in society, yes killing is not right, but in VR, there are no reprocussions.
I don't think they should be outlawed |

No one said they should be outlawed; just distributed a little more carefully. I can imagine the unwitting parents, hearing about that "new game that's so cool", picking up a copy without noticing the 'M' rating, and giving it as a Christmas/Birthday present to their 12-year-old son/daughter. Horrendous! And I bet that's happened more then a few times.

A_D,
I gotta disagree with you on this point... partially. I am NOT influenced by things I see, partially because I am cynical, but partly because COME ON. The game is entertainment. Im not going to go on a killing spree just because I see a few polygons with a flamethrower. Now, 6 year olds should not be playing a game like this because they will think that everyday life is like this. They dont have experience. 12 year olds know (most of the time) what is going on. A game will not influence kids that much, and this "connection" has NEVER been proven. |

Anyway....Doobie were you able to pick up a hooker? lol, its some funny stuff let me tell ya. I just bought the game myself for my PC, I've previously just played it on PS2. Funny the game is Identical to the PS2 version. I was surprised, but still a really fun game to play. I also noticed when you run ppl over or beat them up, sometimes they leave money on the ground. I didn't notice that in the PS2 version, but maybe thats one of the differences.

returning to Doobie's original question, in the PC version, you just let the hookers approach your car, and then click the right mouse button to let 'em in.
This is only a small part of the game. The whole game is an absolute riot, lots of fun. Before you label it "too violent" etc, actually play the game, i'll bet you'll enjoy it. |

I respect your argument, but I must disagree(partially)with you on this. I am wholly against the idea that video games(or music, or TV, for that matter)actually cause violence. However, some games(or music, or TV, you get the idea)are just over the line. And how is that entertainment? It seems more like Rockstar wanted attention from a Congressional Comittee! Also, I don't think any 12-year old should play GTA3; they are still very impressionable at that age. Not everyone is 'cynical', and although I don't believe video games directly cause violence, I do believe that they can shape a persons thinking to dull them to certain aspects of life. Just read the paper: 'Ho-hum, a few more murders today; what does the weather look like?' Bottom line: if you want to go ahead and partake of what GTA3 has to offer, be my guest, but I'll never play it, and neither will my children(actually, I played it once, but I was so disgusted that I quit after about 3 minutes). |

In my opinion.. games will for the most part not influence kids in a bad way.. or cause them to do things or corrupt their morals or anything. I think most kids can handle GTA 3 or Vice City. YES, it is very violent.. you can hold up stores... kill anyone .. beat anyone to a bloody pulp shoot cops.. do drive bys... pick up hookers ... even buy up a movie studio in Vice City where they make adult films... But most people know wrong from right. LIke some metally impaired kids SHOULDNT play this kind of game.. same as for the very young so they wont have the wrong idea about things... But most normal healthy minded kids wont see this game and go think they can do these things in this society. IM sure all teenagers that arent mentally disabled KNOW right from wrong of course. At my school I've seen some of the mentally handicaped talk and emulate things these games have in them.. they shouldnt be playing them.. some dont know right from wrong... But then again they emulate the wreslters off of Wreslting games as well.. its not all of Rockstars fault... But it all comes down to parenting.. if your kid is 17 or odler.. of course they can buy teh game legally.. if not.. YOU are the one whose giving them this game.. its up to you.. If you think your child is amture enough to handle such a game.. or even if you think you kid should be exposed to such immoral things.. Im 16.. my parents hate the game..(they love vice citys music though!) but Its not like it changes me in any way.. I just enjoy the gta series..

If you cannot tell virtual reality from reality, then you obviously have some sort of mental condition...

A_D,
I respect your point, and it is held by MANY people, but I am a teenager, and my friends KNOW right from wrong, but sometimes we dont practice it (we are not just smart kids, some are pretty dumb). None of my friends would go out and shoot someone just because they saw it in a game. Im not trying to make you like it or play it, but (in my opinion, at least) dont censor you kids from it unless you think they have a blurred point of view on life. I know some kids who should not play it, and they have no common sense. Use at your discretion, but do not censor based on what the media says. |
