Older version of UT

Well I made good use of my time over my vacation. I finally got my Alienware PC and I like it. I am having a weird problem with an older version with UT where the video gets choppy. Now being that I now have 3ghz with an ATI 9700 Radeon video card, that the video would be smooth as silk. Personally I think it's a compatability issue and what I probably have to do to truly fix it is upgrade to the newer version of UT 2003.

No it shouldn't be choppy at all, but could be other issues. UT was a Glide game, so support for D3D and OpenGL were added later.

You have the latest patch for the game? (4.36).

Try this- open the game, then ctrl-alt-del and end task on it to make it crash. After restarting you'll be prompted with a menu, one of the options on it being change your video device. Hit that, go to "list all renderers" and try OpenGL, see if it helps.

I updated my video drivers, sound drivers, and chose the video option you listed. It made a significant difference. Not as good as it was on the other PC, but then again I am a perfectionist which I am trying to change. So with that said it's working great. Thanks for the help.
