What is VAX sound?

I found this option in JK2 when I was fooling around with the settings. What is it? When I enabled it, it crashed the game the moment I enabled it.

it is EAX sound, and it is a certain technology enabled in JK2 and utililized by SB Audigy's; it allows for high quality surround sound. If you dont have an Audigy I presume that it will have some effect on your computer such as crashing it.

Yes, I double checked it, it is EAX. Sorry about that.

I'm using onboard sound, so that probably doesn't support it then. Would a SB Live! 5.1 support it?

The SB Live! 5.1 does support it. I have a Live 5.1 and I use EAX in every game I play that supports it.

Yes, the SBLive 5.1 supports EAX. I used to have one, and always used EAX. However, the effect is not as noticable as it is on an Audigy.

I don't know about Cmedia, but it isn't just the Audigy that has EAX.

Yep, I just checked what I previously stated and I found out that I was wrong. Sorry about that.

This sounds good.

What kind of surround sound system would you suggest using?

If I'm not mistaken, Advanced HD was the new technology for the Audigy. I apologize for the mixup. I use the Inspire 5.1 5200 from Creative Labs. They are not top of the line but they are excellent in my eyes.
