MOHAA messed up

Hi,

I have started playing MOHAA again (Medal of Honor: Allied Assault...)

I am using my old save games folder, but this appears to have caused a problem (possibly)

I am up to "Snipers Last Stand", I finish the level by going through the gates, up the stairs and watch the plane crash. Then it goes to the new level loading screen for like 0.5 seconds and flicks back to the games main menu (the war room thing)

Any ideas? No I haven't patched the game since using old saves. (They were saved with the same version (latest) patch anyway)

Thanks for any help, perhaps I could email somebody my save and they could try it on their game? I don't know exactly how I would take out the one save file which is causing trouble though

Also, I have tried playing from the old save files, then going a little further in the game and saving it, then loading from my new save. This doesn't help either though.

Thanks again

Try cut/pasting your saved game file to another location, then re-install MOHAA, then put the saved game back.

If that doesn't work, then the game file is probably corrupted. I could send you a Saved Game file of mine at the same part if you want.

Well I just tried to install the game again and it would seem that the CDs are scratched to buggery. They don't work any more and I guess they copied bad files over to my drive

I'm going to see what I can do about it with the shop

Yup, I think I made a backup copy at some point (Is that legal? Please let me know) so might be able to use that, but my CDs never get scratched and I look after them so I'm puzzled as to how these have got so bad. The original CDs are scratched very badly, lots of minor scratches.

Cheers

I used my MOHAA CD so much that it would just be set on my desk without being put in it's case each time but even then it didn't have many small scratchs then BAM this deep scratch got on it

I had my BF1942 CD go bad just a few days ago and I made darn sure it was in tip top shape so my first owwie didn't happen again but out of no where this little crack appears right in the center and it is just long enough to enter parts where data is and I can't start the game now

No telling how long it will take EA to get my new CD's once I send mine in, what is a guy to do!

BTW I always thought you could make one legal copy of each game.

Yes, it is legal to make one copy, as long as it is specifically for backup/archival purposes, and you don't distribute the discs.

And to answer my own question:

If you sell your original copy, your backup must be destroyed immediately

Thanks, I forgot that part. I now make backups of all my games(at least the ones that will allow it)after learning the hard way with JKII.

Alternatively, find a NoCD crack for your game if it exists, so you can play the game without the CD. I am not sure about the legality of this, but I'm sure it's no worse than making back-ups. It just means you can leave the CDs safe and sound in their boxes. Go to www.gamecopyworld.com for a list of cracks

Again, if you sell the game, you must de-install the game and associated cracks.

Thanks for touching base on this subject fatboyjim. I see nothing wrong with this thread as long as you own an original copy of the software being discussed.

Just as long as this duscussion doesn't linger into the illegal realm, you've got no worries.

NoCD cracks are very convenient. Though, it is always a good idea to rename your old .exe before applying the crack, they can somtimes do weird things (though I havn't actually ever had problems myself I still do it) and it might save you from reinstalling the game.

Yes they can do weird things and thanks for that Tiretool.

The Sims NoCD for example wipes out your mouse cursor in game (for the bit when the person's head comes up and you can click on things for them to do)

Are you sure you have the version that corresponds to the game version? Have you tried other cracks?

Yeah tried loads of cracks but no worries I don't mind putting the CD in. I don't play it anyway

NoCD wouldn't work in this case anyway for MOHAA. You don't need the CD to play it in the first place, as I already had a NoCD crack
