Geforce FX (NV30) Q
I've heard that Nvidia is going to ship their Geforce FX (NV30) cards in February or March from many places and - if anyone knows -
Do you think's its worth waiting for? Will it be compatible with AGP 4x and/or AGP Pro (1.5v) |

I think it's going to be too expensive when it first comes out. $400+ most likely. You should probably stick to your Ti4600 until the price drops or until your card is really lacking.

Expected MSR is $550 -- expected street price will be around $480.

Pricey but worth it to some. I will stick with the 4200 till I can get a used 30, or their price drops to within reason. It would be nice if the 30 plays dx7/8 games faster than any card previous, and with great image quality. I have probs with the iq of my 4200 in dx7 games, but not with its speed.

Actually, I'm surprised that nothing is out already, since Nvidia has already Released the chip to vid card manufacturers "last year."
-- finally got to say "last year"I've heard price guess-timates of $300 - 500. Look at current GF 4 MX cards; they can be had from $50 to 150, so a low end, very basic fx card may not be that pricey, but I have no doubt that a decked out, hot rod one will be around $500. TwoRails |

I heard there would be 2 versions. A $400 and a $500.
It will be compatible with AGP 4x and 8x. I don't know about AGP pro.

What a small market they are aiming for. This chip is so expensive. Why set the price so high and then lower the price little by little. Shouldn't they release it low since new Radeons will come out soon and the current radeon is about $100 less?

Because all new highend chips are released at $400.

Not to mention, people will buy them even at that price. People have a craving for the newest and best. Kids will ask their mommy and daddy for the money for it and some will get it. Also, people just don't care about the price I don't think. It's like (at least in Philly), people will pay amazingly high prices for playoff prices even if they can barely afford it. They'll buy season tickets with a very low income. Same premise I think.

Other than I've heard it's already been in development for a couple of months, I haven't really heard much about it. Any ideas?? Maybe I'll wait too LOL -- You may have started something, RenegadeKing ![]() TwoRails |

Just spreading this around:
TechTV just did some benchmarking on the fx 5800, but still with not ready for prime time drivers, and a beta card. It again seems to win most benchmarks, but not all. I'll still wait for the final, retail benchmarks, but priliminary results are that it's not the 9700 killer I'd thought it would be.....
