ati radeon 8500 vs the 7000 series
im thinking about upgrading my radeon 7000 card (the 64mb ddr version) to the radeon 8500 series also the 64mb ddr version my question is which one is better and will i see any improvment

the 8500 is far better. It's a direct 8.1 compliant card so it has pixel and vertex shaders. Yes you will see a huge improvement.

I had the 7000 and the difference you will notice will be like night and day.

ok thanks guys but one more question would this card be the best card to buy underneath 70 dollars under pricewatch or is there a better one for under 70 bucks?

well, you have to be careful with Pricewatch. They just list low prices that resellers post to their site. You know nothing about the reliability of that reseller....

I have a 9000 Pro (Gigabyte) and think it is a very nice card. Plays any current game very well. (system quite similar to yours 1400 Celeron Tualatin 512 PC133 ) 3D mark 2001 @1024x768x32bit score of 6000 compared to the Radeon 8500 score of 7000 on the same system. Strangely enough in a lot of games the 9000pro get's better frame rates than the 8500
