Problems with 9700

I just received my second OEM 9700pro form newegg, I had to RMA the first one because of yellow lines appearing on the screen. But now, the card causes my computer to freeze up during games or sometimes just surfing the net. I checked at rage3d.com and nobody could come up with a working solution.

My specs are in my sig. I tried different vid drivers, updated my via 4in1's, even taken every thing off of the power supply except my HD and vidoe card(to make sure my 300w was not the problem)...still locks up at various times during play in multiple games.

Any ideas?

Lots of issues with the Radeon 9700. Look at the forums at www.asusboard.com, also many issues which are power related and incompatibility with certain chipsets/motherboards & issues DX9 related.

Go back to rage 3D.
I realize they're an insular bunch of bas*ar*s but a full search will turn up answers.
With that mobo it sounds like you've got the 400mb glitch but I can't be sure.
There's info on the site but you'll have to dig.
The memory gets clocked down to 333 and the AGP voltage has to be upped ( I think it's 1.5 to 1.6 or 1.7).
The other point is revision numbers, if revision 1 doesn't work you may need 3 instead of 2, which revision did you get?

Another comment; ATI and Sapphire are dead wrong for doing things like this.

Ok, if I understand you correctly, you think I have the KT400 chipset. It is actually the kt266a chipset.

I hope that is what you are talking about because I can not think of anything else.

...and thanks for the help

I have had no problems with my mobo except for the 9700. It took a while to get the RAID 0 working corectly, but I managed to get it.

Although I do not notice the difference in speed the RAID 0 makes.

No, is there a benchmark that you would recommend for HD?
