I want to upgrade my video card to a Radeon 7500 64MB DDR. I just want a good card with TV out under a 100 bucks. But isn't this considered downgrading? Gaming wise? The TV out isn't all that important if it's going to bring down my gaming performance.
But since DDR=Double Data then would it actually be 128 Single Data? Bottom line, I just want to know wich card is better : Palit Geforce2 MX400 128MB SDR or ATI Radeon 7500 64MBDDR. Thanks for your responses. |

MX cards are stripped down versions of the original chip design and just not worth getting. The 7500 is a better card between the two.

Yeah, being only half the memory was worrying me but I'll take your word for it. I think you know a lot more than I do. I appreciate the help guys.

As I recall, the benchmarks showed the 7500 to be faster than a mx card. Now if it was an gf4mx460, that would be just short of a gf3 speedwise.

I would take the 64 DDR - there aren't any games out yet that require more than 64 for optimum performance - Doom 3 is going to be the first I believe.

What about "powered by" ATI cards? The one I just orderd on newegg was a Sapphire manufactured card. Is this a bad thing? And wich company would have a the right drivers?

The "powered by ATI" cards are perfectly safe to use. They are the cards that are built by manufacturers other then ATI, using exactly the same hardware. Sapphiretech is a very reputable ATI manufacturer, your card will run excellently. You can get new drivers right from ATIs website, www.ati.com
