zoo tycoon driving me crazy
I have a machine at home mostly for gaming for my kids.I've got about a dozen games on it now including Unreal Tournament,Sim City 3000,Roller Coaster Tycoon,Age of Empires,and others.Runs all of them with no problems except Zoo Tycoon and it's my 10 year old daughter's favorite.It's not heat.After playing UR Tournament for an hour the cpu temp is 48°in the bios.I'm going to try changing drivers but I don't think that's the problem either.I just changed the video card from a Voodoo 3000 to a Radeon 8500 LE and it does the same thing.It runs anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour with no problems and then freezes solid.It was one of the first things I installed on the machine after building it so there's wasn't much else installed.What else besides heat and drivers could cause this problem?I'd really like to solve this problem if possible.I've run into this many times with other machines too.Thanks

What are the system specs? It sounds suspiciously like a 4-in-1 issue, but that's probably just me being paranoid. Also, what OS is on the machine? Have you patched the game(if there is one released)?

I installed Zoo Tycoon on my PC and my kids ran it for about 3 days right around Christmas and never had a problem.

Hi Dude
Didn't see any patchs for the game at Blue Fang web page.The system specs are:Abit KT7E board,Athlon 1333 mhz,Radeon 8500 LE video,256 mb Crucial pc133,Antec 300 watt ps,NEC 24x CD burner,Vortex sound card,Win 98SE.The only other problem I've had with this machine is locking up playing music in windows media player.Music files play fine using another file player. I can unistall Windows media player.Don't really need it.I have the latest VIA 4in1 drivers installed.I'll look on Microsoft's site for a patch too.The game played two hours tonight before it locked but it still locked.Thanks for your help Dude.Please don't hesitate to suggest anything else.

Hi hot rod
The game runs fine on my HP 866 p3 but I'm selling that machine.It's a simple game and the requirements for a system to run it are not high.

I installed zoo tycoon on the kids puter,and it would just give me a black screen when it started.I installed the patch from microsoft,and everything has been fine since.Here is the link if ya want to check it out.

Thanks but I believe the patch is for windows xp only.I'm using win 98.
