Radeon 9000 any good?
Im currently using my old PCI Geforce 2 MX 400 64MB SD
I am impatiently waiting for a a check to clear because, I want to get an AGP Sapphire ATi Radeon 9000 64MB DDR cos it falls into my budget. What i want to know is, is it an OK card? i mean for the money it seems like either a steal or a P.O.S Cheers

Well, depends on what you want to use it for. It's an ok card if you're not wanting fast speeds for gaming.
Here's an article with comparison charts of the cards that are out today from THG http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic...charts-05.html

well, im probably mostly gonna play games with it, my MX400 runs GTA3 in 640x480 mode fast, i just want it to be better, and AGP is loads more bandwidth anyway isnt it?
bottom line is it going to be a vast improvement on my current one? |

Best possible, try to get Geforce 4Ti4200 series...
I've got myself an MX card before and it did ran well with GTA3. After getting GF4 cards I can get GTA3 to run at 1024x768 resolution with 32bit color and guest what,it ran with no sign of slow down or what so ever......COOL~!~! Geforce3 was a great card too..but Ti500 would be better....

im on like a £60 budget though, i wanted a Ti4200, but the cheapest was more like double, anyway, Im quite happy with a GF3, the Nvidia analyser said that it would make a 250% improvement on the card i have now. which is nice

You may want to possibly consider just saving up for a little because getting a GF3 will be outdated very quickly with newer and newer games.

I’m going to jump on your thread instead of starting a new one:
![]() The laptop I was thinking about getting has a Radeon 9000. Should I look for a laptop with a Nvidia card? |

The 9000 is one generation ahead of the Gf4 MX for laptops.
So, yeah it's better for gaming. The thing to remember though is that laptop cards are always 1 or 2 generations behind. So the one you pick is the most current you can afford. |

Yep yep,
a gf3/200 is the least I recommend, as it games flawlessly. Some can be clocked pretty hi too. |
