Im asking anyone that uses an ati radeon 9700 Pro to tell their experiences with them....are they better than teh gf4 ti4600...like by a lot? Does it ever lock up? How are teh drivers? Im thinking about buying one...this one to be exact....

I have a 9500pro.
It beats the 4200 and the 4400. FSAA is enabled and it beats the 4600. Check the reviews at Anandtech, Toms, and HardOcp. Don't take anyone else's call, see for yourself. |

I have a radeon 9500 non-pro, and I applied this to it: http://www.maxdownloads.com/~ian/wizzard/
next step is overclocking it. |

Hi easyco16,
Comparing the 9700 to a GF 4 is no comparison. The 9700 will kick butt, but it is an oranges-to-apples comparison. The correct comparison is the 9700 comparied to the GF 5 (aka: GF fx), as they are in the same, not difference, class of vid cards. The GF fx is to be released by at least one maker in the next few weeks, so the only benchmarks I have seen so far are on BETA fx cards. These preliminary scores indicate the fx will beat the 9700 Pro by 10 - 20% in some areas, but I'll wait to the retail cards come out and put more weight in those benchmark scores. HTH TwoRails |

but i guess the question i am asking is if the 9700 pro locks up a lot, because i heard that the drivers are horrible and it locks up on every single game!
thanks a lot! |

Best selling card at $400 that won't work?
I don't think so. If you're seriously thinking of getting one go over to -www.rage3d.com - and read up on it in the forums. That way you can find out what works and what doesn't for yourself. More importantly, you can find out what problems are real and what's nonsense . Post your question there and get the answers from the guys who really give ATI a hard time when they don't get it right. |
