cad card

Since I run a CAD program more than games, would I be better off with a Fire GL over a 9700 pro? My system is not dedicated to this program, but I would like the card which gives me the fastest rendering speed. Thanks.

If you do 3d work then yes the fire gl will be a much better choice. For 2d work, any card will suffice. We use 7500's for 2d work and they perform very well.

A lot of CAD programs don't like ATI cards at all. I put Quadra cards in most of the systems I build but really it depends on the software you use. If I need to save money I look to Matrox. Their cards are very compatible and give as good or better 2d performance than anyone. 3D is nowhere near the Nvidia cards.

I use Cadkey 98 and have a G3 card now, but am going to upgrade. Thanks for the suggestions.
