The Siluros I have seen are very nice cards. They have no problems running at 4400 speeds.

As far as I'm concerned, all brands are fairly equal when it comes to nvida graphics cards. So it doesn't really matter which brand you get, they should all be about equal. Although some brands have more features than others, and some overclock a little better than the rest. So I would think the 4400 would be faster than the Abit 4200, but the Abit may overclock better or have some extra features. It realy depends on if you care about overclocking or extra features or not.

If the 4400s are the same price, you might as well get a 4400, because you won't need to overclock to get there, and you might even be able to overclock it to near 4600 speeds.

While different brands are somewhat similiar because they use a common chipset thats about where it ends. The better ones use higher quality RAM and other components.

It's about like saying all P4 computers are the same. They are too many variables too make either statement true. The Abit cards are already pretty reasonably priced any Ti4400 for the same price is likely not as good a card, unless you are getting a smoking deal on it. Without kowing all the particulars I would have to say buy the Abit card. You will have a hard time going wrong with them.

Well what brands for the ti4400 are you considering? Gainward, visiontek, pny, and asus all make good video cards. I personally have a chaintech, and I'm sure many people would not recommend it, but honestly, it works very well, and overclocks just as well as my friend's gainward.

I just put a Albatron Ti 4200 in a new build, and I'm watching with bated breath to see how it holds up. Anyone else like/dislike Albatron?

Dude, you should have asked us first!!!

Truly, RKing, with all due respect, it does matter which brand. The 4200's with 128 DDR RAM are overclockable to 4600 speeds quite often and the Abit Siluro with that OTES seems to be a high quality card from what I read on either Tom's Hardware Guide or Hard OCP, I forget which.

So, esemte, if you can get one at a good price, I'd do it if I were you. Just make sure it's 128 MB so you can play the high end games like UT2003

Well, initial results successful; 3DMark score of 10,055 with the defaults. TimPoet, the only reason I went with the Albatron is because it was the only 128Mb Ti 4200 NewEgg had in stock at the time, and I've heard some good things about Albatron mainboards.

i got my abit silurio 4200 (64 meg model) and it doens't have OTES but i have it at 4600 speeds except that the memory falls barely short because it has no heat sinks on it. As soon as i get some on it'll be at/past 4600 speeds.
