AGPpro/8x Vs. AGP 8x

ok. Is there a difference between these two. I notice my mobo says AGP Pro/8x. Is that different from regular 8x agp? the A7N8X has a spacer in the agp slot but the manual says to remove it only for AGP pro/8x cards. Well I removed it unknowingly and put my 8x agp 9500pro in. No problems so far, but the mobo manual says that if a non-pro/8x card is in that slot it could damage the card or mobo or both.
Thanks

Does the card fit snugly in that slot?
Would it have fit if you hadn't removed the spacer?
If so, and you'd be having problems otherwise, worry about something else.
Pro used to refer only to pricey work station cards that needed more length in AGP slots. That hasn't been true for awhile.
I don't know the specs for your board but the spacer means that you could use a smaller card in that board but, as the warning says, not without risk. The spacer is to anchor the smaller card so it won't shift. If it did while the computer was on something would fry.
I doubt you need to hear it from me but, you really need to read the manual first. Spare yourself anxiety attacks !

Hi Jeradln82,

The spacer is actually a blocking device so that you don't accidently install the vid card incorrectly. pam123 is right-on in that the "pro" cards require a longer slot.

TwoRails is likely right there.
I was thinking about some mobos that were out 2 years ago ( or is it 3 now? ) that would let you install a regular or pro card and used the spacer to make up the difference.
They're probably long gone.

It fits right in. Thats the reason I took it out, I couldn't fit the card in with it there. The card fits snuggly. I just didn't know what the pro meant. The mobo is the Asus A7N8X Dlx. I was just double checking myself.

Thanks
