greedo GIF Files How TO

If Jpeg is to Photoshop, then for GIF files, what kinda Software to use to view and create magic on them ?

I remember using 'Free-hand', but seems not so easy to use. What's the 'killer-software' to use for GIF ?

M using Photoshop 6, but it doesn't seems to read GIF files. When I tried to open, error says " This is a animated GIF, you can only view one frame, saving over this file will result in the loss of Infomation".
Upgrade to Photoshop 8?

As a fan of Photoshop, When I saw Photoshop 8 on the store, I just couldn't help wondering what's new on it. By far to my limited exposure and knowledge, It really impressed me of the things it can do beyond imagination. I sure won't mind making a living out of it. But Just hate to sit on the chair all day watching the CRT monitor : That would ache my back and my eyesight.

Try out Paint Shop Pro 7 (www.jasc.com). Cheaper than Photoshop, lots of power and a bundled GIF animation package (Animation Shop).

Wait, when the heck did Photoshop 8 come out? They're trying to make people go poor with all these upgrades.
