Hello,
Here's my setup: P3 800EB Asus p3v4x 256 Micron pc133 ram Asus AGP V7700 Geforce2 GTS 64 meg SB Live 20 gig Fujitsu HD It's a decent rig, I enjoy it. But when I play Half-Life (counter-strike, more specifically), everything is shaky. It doesn't scroll smoothly, it's like it jumps too many pixles. My fps stay around 75-80, my 3dmark 2000 scores are around 6600. I don't know whats going on. I have another computer over here with a similar setup, and it gets the same frame rates, only it's silky smooth when playing halflife. I checked to make sure the card wasn't sharing an irq. It's not, it's on irq 11, and its the only one. I checked out my monitors refresh rate. It's on optimal, but I set it to 75khz and performance was the same, I set it to 85khz and performance was the same, so I set it back to "optimal". I oc'd the card a bit (235 clock, 400 memory), performance was the same (fps went up slightly). I installed the via 4 in 1 drivers, and nothing changed. I'm running the latest detonator drivers. I'm running the latest directX. I'm pretty sure all my drivers are current. I really don't know what could be causing this. It's definitely playable, but it doesn't look as nice as it should. I doubt its the mouse scrolling weird because I have the same mouse on the smooth computer. Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Nim |

Answer to my own question
Dudes over at the [H]ard Forums suggested a program called "ps2rate" and adjusting my mouse rate. I bumped it up to 200, and it fixed everything.
Hope this helps somebody else sometime =) |
