You may not be able to install the game due to your system not meeting the system requirements of the game.

If you do get it to install, the game will run choppy. Since it requires 500Mhz and you only have 450Mhz, and since you have a 8MB video card while it requires a 16MB video card. So you maybe able to play the game, but it will run choppy.

Why is it that he has a P3 and has 450mhz and I have a Intel Celeron and it runs a 465, arnt Pentiums supposed to be faster than Celerons?(My PC is old too like 5 yrs old)

And one more thing...he system seems pretty close to the requirements, does he have to get a whole new motherboard and porcessor to play they game, or can he just get a new video card, and it will take up the slack from his processor?

avx, it's simply that you have a faster processor than ironzombie. Processors come in various speeds and you just happen to have the faster processor. As for SimCity's requirement's, this was taken from pc.ign.com in their review:

"Of course all this detail comes at a price. While the minimum requirements are a PIII 500 MHz system, I couldn't imagine playing SimCity 4 on such a weak machine. On high detail the game chugs on my 1.8MHz rig with 512MB RAM and a GeForce 4, especially when I zoom in or scroll the screen. Smaller cities don't affect performance as much, and toning the details down helps"

If he wants to get the game running really good, he is definitely going to have to do a lot of upgrading. Not sure what motherboard he is using now and how much faster a processor it will take. A video card will help, but sticking in a new GeForce 4 will be hindered by the slow processor and slow memory.

yep, this is my system and it chugs along pretty slowly and loading times are VERY long....

Asus a7v-e
Tbird 900mhz
256mb pc133
ATI 64mb DDR
Hercules Gaming Theater
30gb 7200 rpm drive

It kind of gets annoying... but I like the gmae so much I just put up with how the game doesnt run very smoothly. When your city gets bigger it gets worse and worse.. and when you zoom close so you can see people or cars... it really starts slowing down dramitcally... Im going to have to upgrade my system here soon...

Yeah, but its a good game. If you like SC 3000 you will definately enjoy this one. THe one thing different is the Region play. But you can edit region sizes so the regions wont hold back your city or anything..

wow, when sc3k came out my craptastic gateway ran it fine on high detail, and now I'm thinking that my system may run it choppy. From what I hear its comparable to battlefield 1942 in system requirements. I can't wait to get my ahnds on this, I'ts 1 of 3 things: 1. beautiful graphicswise, 2. very accurate simulation wiht lots of math, 3. badly written ; probably not the third one though
