counterstrike mic problem

ok i just bought a mic for counterstrike and its hooked up and then i goto voice configuration in counterstrike and i can hear myself talking then i play counterstrike online no one can hear me and when i hit tab i dont have the speaker icon by my name can someone please tell me if im doing something wrong or tell me step by step how to hook it up

First of all, when you hit tab, you're never going to be able to see yourself with the mic icon even if you do get it working. Secondly, you probably should turn the volume way up in the configuration to the max volume. Have you tried getting very close the the mic and talking that way?

ok i checked everything but i have to see if it works now i went to volume control and line in was muted dont know if that had anything to do with it???

Yeah, it's a cool feature with the game. It made me want to play more when I setup my mic in CS.

This is a known issue with CS and the Audigy series of sound cards. The lates driver fixes the problem though, so if you have a SB Audigy (and maybe some of the Live! cards too), update your drivers.
