vcdvd

Is it possible to burn a dvd movie to a cd?(without converting the resolution) Can you watch on a normal dvd player?

As a VCD yes, you'll usually have to span a movie across 2 CDs (assuming 1.5 hours of video, no subtitles, one audio track, etc.).

An SVCD can sometimes be fit on one CD, but standalone dvd player support for those is a bit more sketchy, depends on your player.

Both of those sites have every program you'll need and every guide you'll need to get started making VCDs and SVCDs, vcdhelp also has a database of standalone players and what type of discs they'll play.

Well, that'd be a miniDVD. You *can* burn the title set to CD, but only 650, 700 or 800 MB of it (depends on the CD size). It'll fit about 20 minutes, and only few DVD players play a miniDVD. So it's not worth it.
