Sony memory stick

My buddy just bought a new Sony TV, it comes with a memory stick that you can plug into the front and it will display digital pictures on the screen. The manual says it Will only display pictures taken with a sony camera.

I copied some 20 pics from a disk(taken with an HP camera)and copied them to the stick using a card reader. They all were jpeg format of various resolutions and sizes.

I then plugged the card into the TV and and only about 4 of the 20 would show on the TV, I was using the Slide show feature and every once on a while a pic would appear. the rest would show as "file error" as their turn came around.

Can anyone please explain this to me?

Why didn't all the pics show up in the slideshow??

I know the manual says that. I posted it!!
But it obviously WILL display pictures that have been taken with other cameras.
My question is, why won't it display all of them???

Please try to helpful.

I'm thinking that there might be something about Sony pictures that's "unique" or close to it - and it's coincidence that 4 of your 20 just happened to fall into that characteristics window. Please remember that Sony is a very proprietary company with all their products.

Thanks for the help. Yes I think you are correct about the characteristics idea. I checked the properties on all the pics and could not find the answer. I would like to know if a guy could change something and all the pics would display. Maybe coincidence IS the reason!!
I was surprised when some pics did display when the manual had stated otherwise. I'm hoping someone will have had the same problem and have a more definitive answer.
