for 150, get the radeon 9500, and make it a 9700

Just wait until Nvidia's drivers make the 9700 a leaf blower, lol I like the razor as I have cut myself on various computer components.

You don't need to do the hardware mod. There is a software mod that yeilds the exact same result. The guide to do it is in the PCMech headlines.

I belive it has 128 bit color, that may be why framerates are so so
look at the differnce between 16 and 32 when you run 3dmark

so renegade, once I put my system together I would download the files needed to the new build?

how does the 9500 compare to ti4200 if for somereason the software mod doesn't work?

That's the problem... we don't know yet!

I'm going to keep an open mind until the real deal comes out.

With Nvidia's past record, I don't see how it could be anything but good, myself

Yes. As long as you get the right one, Radeon 9500 (not pro) with 128 mb ram, it should work. If it doesn't, it's still better than a ti4200.

Most components don't come with manuals, so don't worry about that. Just install the card and download the latest drivers, and do the mod to turn it into a 9700 here: http://www.designtechnica.com/sectio...rtid=58&page=1

Performance comparisons are here:
