I would say a Radeon 8500 would be perfect for that price range.

radeon 9700pro is a good card too, and when the new gf4's come out, Im sure the price on it will drop. And its a good enough card to last a couple of years.

After all they always say, patience pays

Not in that price range: save a little extra and then see what the prices are then for the g-force 4 or the radeon9700pro or even the 9500pro. The new games that are coming out have been made for the g-force 4 and the radeon 9700 pro but mostly the radeon with direct x9. The price should be droping in the next 3-4 weeks with the release of the g-force5 and a new ati-350 core.

You also should be able to find a GF 4 Ti 4200/4400 in that range I would think. You might want to wait a little since Nvidia is bringing out the their new Geforce FX, so prices on the GF4's maybe might drop some as a result. HTH

Cool Go for tried and tested video card.

Hi,

With that amount of money u can surely get urself the best, if not the latest, graphics card for ur PC.

Check out GeForce 2 or a card with nVidia chipset (browse the net and u will know about chipsets and brands involved in graphics cards).

Optionally, a card with ATI chipset is fine too ( like ATI radeon).

If you plan on doing any kind of gaming I would recommend that you atleast get a geforce 4 4200 or ATI 9500 Pro. Anything below that simply does not cut it anymore. I would never buy any MX card and a geforce 2 is totally out of the question.

If money is tight, an ATI 8500/9100 would be a good choice.

Im looking to upgrade my Geforce 2 Ti as my recent posts will show. Although Im wanting to upgrade, its to keep from falling too far behind the curve. Ive found its easier to keep your system updated if you replace parts one or two at a time. It doesnt really have anything to do with present performance. Ive never had an issue with a game that was video card related. Getting great frame rates with Nascar 2003, RTCW, Serious SamII, Spiderman the Movie, etc.

i think this guy was on something when posting his message, geforce 2 are like 2 years old and most games that are coming out wont probably support it or have bad FPS.

The Ge Force 3 Ti is a very nice card too. It's $69 at Tiger Direct now. Its hard to beat a price like that.

Nemesis,
for what you want, go for nothing less than an ATI Radeon 8500 (Sapphire's a good brand) or GF4 4200 Ti (Asus or Gainwards are good). You must have 128 mb video RAM on the card for the latest games and you can find that for $150. Look at Newegg.
Good luck!

I'm sure our mobo's and cpu's are bottlenecks, including the lack of DDR RAM. We're just about $400 away from a kickbutt system.
