How to "TV out"?

If my video card supports TV out, what else is required for me to view on a TV, and how do you set it up?

most video cards i think have "s-video" out if they have video out. what you would need then is an s-video cable, and a t.v. with an s-video port. if your t.v. dosent have one, then you would have to get an s-video to rca adapter or something similar.

A lot of TV's don't have s-video, including mine. What is this s-video cable you speak of, and where might I aquire one?

You can get an S-Video-to-composite adapter at Radio Shack.

If you want sound out to the TV, you'll also need to run a cable from your sound card's aux output to your TV (probably need a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter and a Y splitter for that as well unless you have a really nice sound card with multi-channel outputs).

And finally, prior to hooking up the two. you got to change your monitor resolution to equal that of the tv (this depends on your tv so check with it's documentation) basically, if the tv only diplays in 640 x 480 then you can not send to the tv another (higher or lower) resolution cause it does not have the ability to deal with it

I have a an S-Video to SCART cable adaptor. I then set up a clone in nView. I don't have to change my desktop resolution at all. For the sound, I hook up my soundcard to my stereo. the PC and TV/Stereo are in different rooms, so there a re a few 5m cables around the place. It's fine for watching DVDs and movie files.
