Talking win98SE rig vs. winXP Pro rig

I just installed winXP Pro as my 3rd O/S today and to test out the gaming preformance aspect, I installed JKII. It ran great at 1024x768 resolution with all of the graphics setting cranked up all the way. It ran smooth as silk. On win98SE, I had to set everything one notch lower and it was still lagging.

I remember someone here saying that XP increased gaming performance about 10%, and believe it. It may even be more

Just in case you're wondering, here's my specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1900+
ABit NV7-133R
DDR PC2100 256MB
Abit Siluro GF4 Ti4200 64MB
WD 80GB 7200rmp 8MB cache (2 of 'em)
Lite-On 52x CD drive
SB Live! 5.1
O/S's: windows 98SE, 2k Pro, XP Pro

I've never seen JKII run so well on my machine! I'm so happy!

If only XP could get WC3 to run smoothly, I have all the setting on low, and resolution at its lowest, and still the game rnus choppy during biig battles...I really need to get me a vid card..good to know that it runs better on my xp then on my bothers 98 though

It runs smooth as silk for me, with everything turned up and at 1280x1024, on the WinXP machine in my sig. Man, I love that game! I just beat it for the 5th time.
