Can I back up personal setting on game

A month ago a friend help me build a tower. At the time I didn’t have the money for a bigger hard drive. I now have the new hard drive coming. I old computer would not play any games but the new one does. I have been playing UT2003 and MOHAA and had pretty good luck playing them. the question is can I back up the save game part? In UT2003 I have draft my team. MOHAA I have got to level 6 where I am wearing the gas mask. When I put in new hard drive I will lose what I have already won and have to start from scratch. Trying to back up the save part or personal memory. Can I do this? Thank you have reading this.

Yes you can...Just take you new HD, make it a master and your old one the slave, and copy what ever files you would like to keep from your old HD, and just put them on your new on, if you dont know how to do this, post back and I or someone esle will tell you how...There is another way though, if the files are not tooo big, you can pop a disk in and just go to your game folders in your program files, and just save them on your disk, and then when you install the games on your new HD, just put the folders from your disk in the same place you found them on your old HD, or if you have a burner you can do it that way if the files are too big for disk, if you dont know how to do this either post back for instructions, everyone will be happy to help you.

First thank you avx487.

I have 6 gb on old hard drive of music. Friend told me to set up master and slave to transfer music to hard drive (this is going to be a new experience for me I have not done it before but he has talk me thru it several time so I feel comfortable about it). But the game have a register code so I didn’t know if they would transfer that way. When I go to mycomputer> f >ut2003. I open the folder there is a file name “save” is this the one I want burn just in case the transfer does not work it is 1kb. MOHAA is in f> mohaa> main> “save” is this file I want to save for saving my level in the game it is 4mb. If I have to reinstall that not a problem just want to save the levels I am at now in those game. Thanks.

Yes thats what you would like to burn onto a disk for both games, the "save" folders and then when you reinstall the games onto your new HD, just pop the CD in, and open your UT, and MOA folders and they either will already have a "save" folder or it wont have been created yet...if its their already delete it, and replace it with the save folder that you copied from you old HD. If the folder isnt there, just put the folders in their, and then when you start your game you should be able to load and play just as you did on your ond HD, and that should be it, your all set

If you need any other help, dont be hesitant to come back here and ask any questions you have.

If you burn them onto a CD and copy them back, you will need to remove the "read only" attribute after you copy them back.
