GF4 or 9700 ???

Hi all, I have a P4 1.8, intel D850MV MOBO, 512 MB RDRAM and a GF3 Ti200 primarly used for gaming (NASCAR 2003 and BF1942). I would like to upgrade my video card but uncertain which way to go, I have always been a GF fan and was looking at going to a GF4 Ti 4400 but have heard the image quality and speed is awesome on the 9700 Pro, not to crazy about the GFFX, that is one loud sucker plus I want a card that has been out for a little while, any comments on the best card for this system ??

Thanks

Albatron GeForce4 Ti4200 Turbo, it has performance of a Ti4600, and overclocks wonderfully for about $170ish.
Or you can wait for Geforce FX to come out and grab a 9700 pro or other geforce 4, cuz im expecting a price drop.

I have heard that the 9700pro outperforms the GF4ti4400. So if you dont mind waiting like..what is it now, a week or so before the GF5 comes out? Anyways, wait until the GF5 comes out and then there should be a price drop on the 9700 pro, save yourself a few bucks Thats what I am planning on doing.

The geforce FX (not geforce 5) is coming out shortly, but its cost isn't worth the performance gains over a 9700.

I'd wait and get the 9700 cheaper.

Buy a Radoen 9500 128MB (non Pro) and use the software mod that is out there to change it to a Radeon 9700 (non Pro). You have to get the right version of the card, the one with the memory chips in two groups of two instead of one group of four. Then you can run RivaTuner, I think that's its name, and get a Radeon 9700 for half the price.

Edit: I don't know if I should be supporting this, since it isn't proven to work at all. It may void your warranty... don't hold me to my word on the reliability of this.

If money's an object go GF4, if not go Radeon 9700. Although Furious' advice is pretty cool about overclocking the 9500 or modifying may be the better term. Read an article on it last night and it seems rather safe and gives top notch performance on the cheap! You must buy the right 9500 though.

TechTV just did some benchmarking on the fx 5800, but still with not ready for prime time drivers, and a beta card.

It again seems to win most benchmarks, but not all. I'll still wait for the final, retail benchmarks, but priliminary results are that it's not the 9700 killer I'd thought it would be.....

I have heard some bad things about ATI Radeon 9700 Pro's drivers. Is this true?
