Damn.. I'm starting to feel bad for nVidia. I hope that either they come out with drivers that double the FX's current performance, or their next card is a huge success... Or else I'm gonna have to get rid of this nVidia case badge soon and replace it with an ATI one

Good point, avx487! I'm in no hurry to upgrade, anyway!! Before I get another vid card, I'll be getting a A7N8X and 2600 / 2700+ !!!

They're smart enough to cut their losses.
Now we wait for the next card they put out.
avx487 is right. If they're smart they'll target the 9500pro.

Well, if half of the bad rumors about the fx turn out to be true, I might do something I never thought I'd do, and that is to go ATI....

Was that April, wolfie, on the 9900??

A quote from your link, wolfie:

we have learned that ATI's next generation R350 chip which will compete with the Geforce FX is now in mass production
Doesn't the fx have to be out to be in the competition?? LOL

Well the non Ultra version will still be sold retail, and those that prebought the Ultra will still get it. So the FX isn't completely dead.

this is definitely good for ATI...hopefully they can hold the lead so NVidia will get off its lazy ass and put out something other than another GeForce

They've got the nForce2 chipset. It's currently the best AMD chipset out there and it's not a geforce.

The nForce2 chipset is awesome! I wonder if they can make it better? Hmm...

I'm just curious, how long have ATI and nVidia been battling?

Nvidia started making graphics chips around 1996. ATI has been around a lot longer than that - 1992 or earlier.

I don't know if ati was making graphics chips then, but they were founded in 1985. They are a pretty old well established company.

Im not peeling the badge off my PC, i had to steal the one i have from an advent in PCWorld, pretending i was watching the demo on the screen i was peeling it off and stuck it on the back of my phone.
I love my Ti4200 that much, turned me to a life of crime..

We used to have a 2400 baud ATI modem. Yeah - Nvidia is the new kid on the block for graphics chips. ATI's main competition back in the early 90's was S3, Tseng, Cirrus Logic, and Matrox.
