Damn.. I'm starting to feel bad for nVidia. I hope that either they come out with drivers that double the FX's current performance, or their next card is a huge success... Or else I'm gonna have to get rid of this nVidia case badge soon and replace it with an ATI one

I dont feel bad for them...They probably cancelled it for a reason, we all know radeon has had them beat...They are probably gonna go back to the drawing board and make a card that out does the 9500pro...Im glad to see they protected their name and didnt want to realease crap

Good point, avx487! I'm in no hurry to upgrade, anyway!! Before I get another vid card, I'll be getting a A7N8X and 2600 / 2700+ !!!

They're smart enough to cut their losses.
Now we wait for the next card they put out. avx487 is right. If they're smart they'll target the 9500pro. |

Wasn't the GF "6" supposed to come out later this year, too?? I wonder what this setback will do to it...

Well, if half of the bad rumors about the fx turn out to be true, I might do something I never thought I'd do, and that is to go ATI....
Was that April, wolfie, on the 9900?? TwoRails |

Well the non Ultra version will still be sold retail, and those that prebought the Ultra will still get it. So the FX isn't completely dead.

Nvidia started making graphics chips around 1996. ATI has been around a lot longer than that - 1992 or earlier.

I don't know if ati was making graphics chips then, but they were founded in 1985. They are a pretty old well established company.

We used to have a 2400 baud ATI modem. Yeah - Nvidia is the new kid on the block for graphics chips. ATI's main competition back in the early 90's was S3, Tseng, Cirrus Logic, and Matrox.
