Do you recommend this VC?
I am a heavy gamer and I want to replace my old GF3 Ti200 so I can be able to play the upcoming games. I just saw this card for over 200 bucks plus taxes. I like the video capture capabilities since I'll be using them for my thesis work. But I'm mainly a gamer and I don't want this card if it will not perform as a non-AIW 9500. Opinions? Should I buy a plain 9500 and get a Pinnacle for the video captures or will I be able to blast through Morrowind, Unreal 2 and Doom 3 with this AIW? Thanks in advance for your input.

The AIW cards don't affect performance, but they will produce more heat.
Edit: Cheapest Radeon 9700 AIW is $376 on pricewatch, dunno how it compares to prices in Mexico. Last edited by smokealotapotimus; 02-11-2003 at 04:00 PM. |

The 9700 Radeon AIW here costs 500 bucks plus taxes. As much as I'd like one, I can't afford it.

whoah...sorry, forgot that since the fx got chopped wont be a price drop for a little while.
AIW mean "All In Wonder" right, which means tv in/out capabilities? |

Yep. Video capture capabilities.
Alas, even if it had been a price drop, those price drops take over 2 to 4 months to become available here. |

NK,
As far as I know there is no 9500pro AIW. Where did you see it? It's not on ATI's site. |

Is there a 9500 AIW? I have only seen the 9700 come in AIW. Otherwise for the price (I assume US dollars), go for it Nuclear Krusader. The 9700 does not take a performance hit, like the 8500 does when going to a AIW, that should also apply to the 9500. One thing that is of interest to me, could a 9500 AIW be software modded to a 9700 AIW?

The 9500 AIW might be a third party card. When it comes to the AIW cards, they are generally clocked slightly less than that of their non-TV tuner equiped counterparts. There will be a slight decrease in performance, but only benchmarking will really allow that to show.
I currently run an AIW 8500DV and you can't see a performance difference between it and an 8500.

Yes, that was a typo error.
The VC is a Saphire Radeon 9500. With 128 in VRAM. No, it's not an AIW. |
