Cheap Games for LAN Play

Hey everyone. Does anyone know a good place to get cheap copies of games? They can be used for all I care. I want to start playing games over my home LAN (no internet) but I wanted to do it right without making all kinds of illegal copies. Also, don't most modern games have cd keys that wont allow you to play the same copy of the game (same cd key) against itself anyway? I mean, should I just try like flea markets and the used section at the local game store or is there some great place for used games that I don't know about? I was worried that flea markets and such wouldn't have copies of newer games (I want to play UT2003, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, Medal of Honor and Return to Castle Wolfenstein among others.) I do have legal, registered copies of all these games already. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also, I have never set up games on my home LAN so if anyone has any advice, lay it on me.

Thanx,
Scorch

well rainbow6 you can use 1 CD and the whole house can play, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Diablo 2...if you want them cheap try doing a search on google for like "cheap games" or "cheap software", or try going into the "For Sale" forum, I always see people in their selling games for like 2 or 5 bucks...

Hope that helps

you could probably get age of empires for pretty cheap. that'd give a few hours of fun per each game (unless someone cheats! like my brother!). also, i've noticed with half life, with one cd, you can run it on multiple machines and play multiplayer, but you can't play the actual game without the cd. i don't know if that is considered using illegal copies or not.

that's a good tip, but not always necessary. try it with tcp/ip first.

Half Life would be a good game to get. You don't need to use the CD, it's pretty cheap these days and you can download good mods like Counter Strike and Day of Defeat.

Check this FAQ question: http://half-life.gamehelp.com/faq/187.html
Apparently the later halflife patches allow LAN play with the same cdkey as long as everyone playing has the same first three numbers in their IP address."
