Myst any good?

Ive been pretty much a Blizzard gamer, cause I have had bad experiences with other games, so I just stick to diablo2, starcraft, warcraft, but I need something different...any recommendations, I am especially interested in myst or riven

I enjoyed both Myst and Riven. They both were pretty hard though and make you think, so if you're one of these people that gets irked if you can't figure out the answer to a puzzle in under 10 minutes, then neither of these games is for you. If you like games that really make you think though, get these. One thing though, if you decide to get both at the same time, play Myst first. Riven will make a little more sense if you do (as far as character background and everything goes).

Well, I love all of the Resident Evils, all of The Metal Gear Solid's...Loved Zelda, Conker, Mario, Pokemon...I dont like games that have stupid puzzles, when I say stupid I dont mean easy, I just mean those stupid puzzles that have no real need nor relavence in the plot, and they are just there to make you look stupid...I guess Ill just have to pick it up and see how I like it

If you wanna get old school, you can try to find The 7th Guest. I liked it better than Myst, personally. The sequel, The 11th Hour, however, was lacking and confusing.

The integrated live acting is bad quality by todays standard, but Trilobyte was one of the leading pioneers in that aspect. Otherwise, the graphics were amazing for its time and I would contend they hold up even today. Plus, its just so cool and spooky.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Get the Baldur's Gate series games if you really want an immersive, long and outstanding RPG experience.

Compared to those games, Diablo is anything but good.

Myst and Riven are pretty old (graphics, while great for time, are outdated)- and boring by todays standards- basically- solve a puzzle- watch a cut scene- solve a puzzle- etc. There is a newer Myst with better graphics- but there are also newer adventure games that are better- Grim Fandango, Monkey Island series, Sanatarium, Syberia, etc.

i enjoyed riven, but it is hard and some puzzles take a very long time to solve, especially at the end. It took me a year to get through and once you beat it, it is the most boring game in the world. One part gives you a board with about 1200 holes in it and 6 marbles which you have to put in the right holes. It requires you to go all over the islands searching for round wooded balls that someone shoved in the walls and figuring out their exact location on each of the islands, so if your impatient eather get the strategy guide or dont by the game at all. It does make you think though, and beating the game(without the strategy guide) is a big accomplishment. Myst is not quite as good(and not quite as hard)but you need it to get a better understanding about riven . If your still confused after playing both games then read the books. They tell you everything you need to know. Chances are you will get confused playing myst because they just stick you on an island and give you no storyline at all until you start beating the game.
