The specs to my AMD K6-2 500 sys are :
DFI K6XV3+/66 Rev. BB+ AMD K6-2 500 Voodoo 4 4500 AGP @ 2X 15 GB Maxtor Drive Win ME Direct X 7.1 (installed with Win ME) Link Sys NIC 10/100 Hi. I got 2 new video cards about 2 days ago and I installed the ATI Rage Fury Pro in my AMDK6-2 500 system and I had to take it out because that card was not compatible with the MOBO DFI mobo . It was no compatible because after the BIOS post screen the the Win ME splash screen will not show up and I am unable to see anything after that because the screen stays blank I took my V4 4500 out of my C2 system and I put it in. The system then booted up fine so I put the ATI card in my C2 system. Now that the V4 4500 AGP card is in the K6-2 500 system I have awfull FPS in the 10-25 FPS range in UT (before I used to get 45-55 FPS in UT with the older V3 2K PCI card). BTW. When the V4 4500 card was in my C2 system I got 65-70 FPS in UT. Could my solution to this prob be here in this post ?

First, make sure FSAA is off. The Voodoo4's don't even come close to having the speed to run with anti-aliasing on. Second, might be a driver issue. Update drivers from 3dfx, I've seen quite a few problems on other boards when the driver ends up being identified as "voodoo series".
There were issues with Voodoo5's like this, update the driver and see if that fixes the problem. Xayd |

How do I turn off FSAA ?
BTW. Xayd, I had no problems with it on my C2 system eventhough it was installed as a "Voodoo Series" card because it ran as smooth as silk. ![]() TIA ![]() [Edited by hackercarlos on 11-04-2000 at 10:31 PM] |

FSAA should be under advanced display properties in Win9x. display properties/settings/advanced/.
You should update drivers as well, though. 3dfx released new ones a week or two ago for Voodoo5's (I want to say 4's as well, but you'll have to verify that) that supposedly improve performance greatly. Xayd |

The drivers that I am using are the latest and they were from the 3dfx Gamers site. I will give the FSAA change a try and see what happens |

I took out the V4 and put back in my V3 2K PCI card and now all is well. I will leave in my V3 card since the system works fine with it . As for my V4 card I don't know what I am gonna do with it because I currently have the ATI Rage Fury Pro card in my C2 system and I kinda like the Video out and in feature and I like the speed of the V4. Which one should I put in or should I just keep the V4 since I got it cheap ? It kinda hard to choose because the two have ups and downs.

I dunno Carlos, this is sounding more and more like it may be a ME issue as well, not a vid card issue.
You might check around on the Voodoo and UT forums (3dfxgamers.com and unrealtournament.com) and see if anyone else has had the same problems. I've never had compatibility issues with a V3 card, but then again I don't have a V4 or V5 card yet . As far as the ME thing goes, you can't be the only one, look around. Good luck... Xayd |
