Angry Baldur's Gate 1 and Expansion Crash Problem Solved!!!!

I have been seaching and searching for my answers to the problems that I was having with Baldur's Gate and its expansion crashing on me. I looked through many archived messages in a few different forums and found that Baldur's Gate 1 and the expansion can not work with Windows XP.

I did notice that some people said that it worked fine with Windows XP, but one of Bioware's tech's posted reply's to many messages saying that "Windows XP is not a supported operating system." So there we all have it. Kinda sucks...

Thanks

It's really bad that you are (like most of us) left alone in the cold. But I'd still try tho, if you have the time and the patience, since I know of ppl who are running the game in XP.

Well the weird this is, that I reinstalled my computer and Baldur's Gate worked fine. The next day, without changing a thing, the game suddenly started to crash again... So I dont know. Right now I am going to reinstall again and see what the deal is.

Interesting... I still have the CD's from that game laying around somewhere... I'll try installing tonight if I have the time and see what my result is.

Hey Acid-Klutch,

I've got BG1 + TOTSC installed on one of my PCs and it runs fine under WinXP PRO.

I do recall seeing somewhere that if you run have to run BG 1 from a folder or it will crash, meaning:

G:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate - No Crash

G:\Baldur's Gate - Crash

Of course I didn't see that particular bit of advice until I had already re-installed it and so I loaded it as per the second option and like I said, it runs fine.

Ok. I will try that now. I think I just about have everything set on my new install. We'll see what happens. I was running it from c:\my games\baldur's gate I
So lemme see what happens. I have seen many different ideas of why it crashes. Compatability, patches, upgrades, and whatever else. Thanks again!
