Running old DOS games on new computer

Hey guys. I've been in the mood lately to play some old DOS games like Pango, Novatron, Flightmare, etc. I got a hold of them quite easily, but of course they run super fast on my computer. I remember that was the reason I stopped playing them in the first place. Whenever I upgraded my machine, it always made those games unplayable.

So anyways, is there ANY way to run these games without them being lightning fast??

Thanks in advance

Run them under Windows?

Seriously though, you should be able to slow down the machine using a processor intensive utility. Have a look around the web - you'll probably find something (other than Windows!)

HTH,

David.

Take a look at this thread, where Morris suggested a "CPU underclocker" proggie:

Thanks for the link Nuclear. It looks like that program doesn't support XP right now. But I'll look around some more tho'

One thing about underclocking this much... When I used to play these games, they were played on a Tandy 1000. That's an OLD computer. That would be very very slow for a P4 1.6ghz. Back then computer were dealing with kilo's, not even mega-anything!

Try using Moslo : http://cutemouse.sourceforge.net/program/ctmous19.zip

Thats a slow down tool for older games. See if it works.

Sauron,

Great link. That's exactly the kind of program I had in mind. I was looking for a utility that would slow down the program rather than the CPU.

I've been messing with it, I just can't get it to actually slow down the games. I'm going to keep reading on it.
