Before I start I wanna say I did alot of searches/manual reading to no avail. Okay so I got that badass video card and it alows you to do video capture from various devices, TV, camcorder. I got a Sharp camcorder that has the Hi8 format with 8mm tapes, I wanna capture video off this thing and save it in MPEG2. I also cant figure out what this Hi8 format dose. The ATI manual says I need a MMX capable processor to do that, otherwise its AVI. That 800 t-bird is badass but no MMX "I think"?. Anyone done this sorta thing wanna share their knowledge/experiences with me.
Thanks. Luke DaMac |

Just by glimpsing at that card's specs I'd assume that you can plug a VCR or camcorder to that card's video in plugs, open a video capture program (such a program should have been included with the card, but if anyone knows of some top knotch software for video capture please add to this), and begin capturing video. You should be able to capture it to whatever format the software allows. If you want to capture video to a specific format, you'll have to get the right software. For example, if you want to capture video to the Real Player format, you'll have to find the software to do this... these types of programs are usually not cheap. There are simple Mpeg programs out that will capture video nicely. Just depends on what you plan on doing with the finished product.
