Logitech MX700 Gaming Problems

I recently bought a Logitech MX700 optical/cordless mouse, on the whole this mouse is superb except for gaming as this is the main purpose I really bought it for as it has 8 buttons. This is what I wanted as I find FPS games like SOF2 a pain due to all the keys required, so having extra buttons on the mouse seemed like a huge plus point. The only problem is that the mouseware 9.75 drivers are complete sh*t or SOF2 does not support them. I can only configure one of the extra buttons. If I use the mouse with no drivers installed I can program 3 extra buttons but the mouse's tracking is absolutely awfull with no drivers! I have tried all kinds of options such as assigning the buttons on the mouse to operate keyboard keys such as F10, delete etc. Then in SOF2 assigning jump, crouch etc to keyboard keys F10, delete. But they just do not work. I was wondering does anybody else use this mouse or the corded version (MX500) and have any ideas? I am going to try it with RTCW and see if that works ok? As I am wondering if it is just a problem with SOF2. Failing this does anybody know of a good optical mouse, does not have to be cordless that has at least an extra 2 programmable buttons that work with the majority of games, as I think I may sell this mouse on Ebay as it is excellent in all respects except gaming with SOF2 multiplayer!

i know what you mean i got one and that mouseware is total crap, and as for the buttons i like all the buttons but i have a problem with the thumb buttons. i also have a logitech mouseman and it has a thumb button on the very bottum of the mouse and i liked it because the button is right there where your thumb already is. and trying to use the buttons on the mx 700 is a real pain, everytime i crouch down to take a shoot the mouse moves and i miss. but i'll tell you this it is a very good mouse for everything else.
